A word about the X-10
"Supervised" Security system.
A supervised security system
is just that - supervised at the control panel. Look at the LYNX security system on
my Website.
Difference between a
supervised and non-supervised system are substantial. The LYNX system has every
transmitter with its own unique serial number programmed into the panel. Each
transmitter MUST "check-in" with the panel every 2 to 4 hours. Any attempt
to open a transmitter causes the panel to show a fault. Any theft of a transmitter
is given within a 2 to 4 hour period. Any low battery in a transmitter is
transmitted to the control. The control "talks" to the central station and
lets the central station truly monitor its status. Low batteries, faults, troubles,
devices missing, all alarms, communications checks - are all STANDARD with the LYNX
system! The Central station KNOWS what is going on - and can make an INFORMED call
to the police, fire dept, medical emergencies, power companies etc -even to you or a
neighbor for any and all events!
The X-10
"supervised" security system does NONE of the above! While X-10 is stating
its system is supervised - their idea of supervision is the panel will call SOMEONE or the
ORCA Central station - but the central station has NO IDEA what caused the transmission!
With this type of system - I
believe you are looking at real problems - and based on 25 years of installing various
alarm system - I must DECLINE to install this alarm system for anyone wishing to use X-10
equipment for their safety or security - as any malfunction - it would be up to me to
figure out what's going on and why. With the supervised security systems I furnish -
I have SUCCESSFULLY installed systems from READING to PITTSBURGH, the MARYLAND line to the
NEW YORK border - with none of the problems you are about to face with this X-10 system!
All of my systems check in
weekly with the central station to insure the communications are working - the LYNX system
has the capability to control X-10 devices such as lamps.
I do understand people
wanting to save money with the X-10 system - but then again - you do get what you pay for
in the long term - whether through making donations to your local township for false
alarms - or by purchasing quality equipment to start out with.
X-10 Cameras
X-10 cameras need a LOT of
light! I don't mean just off a street light - or maybe a flood light. Your
looking at something near a Lux rating of 8 to 10! Look at various security cameras
- any camera will be a minimum of 3 Lux! Quality cameras can go to .1 Lux (B&W)
to .8 Lux (color) while night vision cameras are rated at 0 Lux!
Again - you do get
what you pay for (or do you really)?? Purchase the X-10 camera - try it
out on your TV - then - if your NOT pleased - call and I'll price out a quality
camera for you that WILL
meet your expectations!
